Iosco County Psychological Services owner Shawn A. Wygant MA, TLLP, is a skilled and dedicated child custody evaluator, family therapist, and expert witness. Mr. Wygant helps Family Courts assess complicated visitation and child custody issues that arise within high-conflict divorce or abuse/neglect proceedings. He aids triers of fact in making evidenced-based decisions concerning the best interest of the child. As a family therapist, Mr. Wygant uses a person-centered, existential-humanistic and emotion-focused approach to assist individuals and families strengthen important relationships, find meaning in the world, and learn how to process powerful emotions. The person-centered approach to therapy honors the individual's preferences, choices, and abilities to plan their lives, set the goals that they want to achieve, and develop a plan for how to accomplish them. It adheres to the principle that all human beings have the innate capacity to articulate and solve their issues of concern when provided a supporting and empathetic environment.
